My Background
Over the past ten years, I’ve installed, maintained, and upgraded four different spas — two traditional hot tubs, a swim spa, and most recently a cold plunge setup I built into a shaded corner of my backyard in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve done everything from hauling units through tight gate openings and pouring concrete pads, to diagnosing heater failures at 11 PM in January and rebuilding entire water chemistry routines from scratch. I’m not a licensed contractor, but I am someone who has made nearly every mistake you can make with backyard water features — and learned from all of them.
Along the way, I’ve connected with dealers, water chemistry specialists, and fellow spa owners who have helped me sharpen what I know. I read the manuals, I test the products, and I track what actually works over months of real use — not just a single weekend.

Honest answer? I got tired of finding advice online that was either too vague to be useful or clearly written by someone who had never touched a test strip in their life.
